CETA – Construction Education and Training Authority

The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) is one of South Africa’s Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), established to promote skills development within the construction and built environment sectors.

CETA partners with employers, training providers, professional bodies, government departments, and industry stakeholders to develop competent artisans, technicians, supervisors, and construction professionals who contribute to infrastructure development and economic growth.

The construction sector plays a vital role in building sustainable communities through the development of residential, commercial, industrial, and public infrastructure. CETA supports this mission by investing in education, occupational training, and workplace learning that meets the evolving needs of the industry.

Its key responsibilities include:

Developing sector skills plans aligned with national infrastructure priorities.
Supporting occupational qualifications, apprenticeships, learnerships, internships, and artisan development.
Funding education and workplace training initiatives.
Promoting quality assurance and workplace competency.
Supporting accredited Skills Development Providers.
Developing skilled artisans who contribute to safe, sustainable, and innovative construction practices.

Through these initiatives, CETA plays a critical role in developing the skilled workforce required to build and maintain South Africa’s infrastructure while creating employment opportunities and supporting economic development.

As part of our commitment to quality education and artisan development, Mahlori Group is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) as a Skills Development Provider to offer the Occupational Certificate: Plumber. This accreditation is valid from 11 April 2025 to 10 April 2030.
