griSETA – Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority

The Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority (AgriSETA) is one of South Africa’s Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), established to promote education, skills development, and workforce excellence within the agricultural sector.

AgriSETA works in partnership with farmers, agribusinesses, government departments, training providers, and industry stakeholders to develop skilled professionals who contribute to sustainable agriculture, food security, environmental stewardship, and rural economic development.

The agricultural sector is a cornerstone of South Africa’s economy, supporting employment, food production, exports, and industrial growth. AgriSETA plays a vital role in ensuring that the industry has access to competent professionals equipped with modern agricultural knowledge and practical skills.

Its key responsibilities include:

Developing sector skills plans aligned with national agricultural priorities.
Supporting occupational qualifications, apprenticeships, learnerships, internships, and artisan development.
Funding education, workplace training, and skills development initiatives.
Promoting innovation, sustainable farming practices, and agricultural productivity.
Supporting accredited Skills Development Providers.
Developing competent agricultural professionals capable of meeting local and international industry standards.

Through these initiatives, AgriSETA contributes to strengthening South Africa’s agricultural sector by developing skilled professionals who enhance productivity, sustainability, food security, and economic growth.

As part of our commitment to excellence in agricultural education, Mahlori Group is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) as a Skills Development Provider to offer occupational qualifications within the agricultural sector. This accreditation is valid from 25 July 2025 to 24 July 2030.
